Does Your Child or Teen Need Support?
Do you feel like your teen is struggling and you’re unsure how to reach them? Are you overwhelmed trying to communicate or understand their needs? Perhaps your teen is having difficulty relating to peers, experiencing social anxiety, or withdrawing from family interactions.
It’s common for teens to feel misunderstood by adults and sometimes respond negatively to well-intentioned attempts to connect. Adolescence is a unique developmental stage, marked by rapid physiological and psychological changes. Navigating these shifts can be challenging both for teens and for parents striving to maintain open communication and a strong connection.
During this time, teens are deeply engaged in self-discovery and identity formation. Many struggle to keep up with these changes, which can increase the risk of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Some may turn to coping strategies that are harmful, such as social isolation, excessive use of technology, self-injury, or substance use.
Parental support plays a critical role in teens’ emotional and mental well-being. By fostering understanding, consistent communication, and a safe environment, parents can help their teen navigate these challenges and build resilience for the future.

Counseling for Teens

Teens often benefit greatly from counseling, as it provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to express emotions and organize their internal world. While parents may be curious about the counseling process, teens have a right to confidentiality, which is a vital component of effective treatment.

After the initial phase of therapy, clinicians encourage family involvement through family sessions to improve communication, strengthen connections, and support the overall family system.

In individual sessions, therapists help teens explore the root causes of distress and develop practical strategies for regulating emotions. Sessions may also address the impact of technology use, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and other challenges. Teens learn communication skills, relaxation techniques, and conflict resolution strategies to navigate everyday life more effectively.

Our therapists use a combination of Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), tailoring interventions to each teen’s unique needs.
